Instructions to make Brenda's Pasties:
  1. Preheat oven to 375°.
  2. Cut up beef and pork into cubes about 1/4" in size.
  3. Cut potatoes into 1/4" cubes.
  4. The quantity of potatoes should be about twice the combined amount of meat. Keep cubed potatoes in cold water to keep them from turning brown.
  5. Cut up the onion, mushrooms and bell peppers into 1/4" pieces also.
  6. Roll out the pie crust and lay over a 9" pie plate sprayed with cooking spray.
  7. Add raw pork, beef, and diced vegetables until the pie plate is 1/2 full when crust is folded over.
  8. Yes, All ingredients are raw at this time! :-)
  9. Add a couple pats of butter and salt and pepper (and any other seasonings you like) to taste.
  10. Fold crust over and crimp closed. Cut a few slits in crust to vent during baking.
  11. Repeat with the rest of the ingredients in the other crust.
  12. Cover with foil and bake for about 1 hour. Remove foil and bake another 10 minutes to brown crust.
  13. Remove from oven and serve hot.
  14. According to my friend that gave me this recipe if you eat with ketchup you are a Yooper and if you eat it with gravy (like me) you are a Troll! LOL!
  15. For seasonings I used a fajita seasoning mix that includes garlic powder. You can also add other vegetables if you so desire… I did not.
  16. Baked pasties may be frozen, unbaked pasties do not freeze well due to the potatoes.
