These purple crumbles are dried Red Shiso leaves, that are most commonly used to pickle Ume (similar to Apricot) fruits. 'Yukari' is a super popular Furikake in Japan.

Japanese Shiso rice topping (Furikake) and seasoning Shiso is usually used for making Umeboshi, but it's also used as furikake for rice. White rice with shiso gets a typical Japanese flavour which tastes a bit sour and is esp. because of that liked by a lot of people. It also tastes great with pasta or used for salad dressings. A flexible and flavorful traditional Japanese-style seasoning to sprinkle over rice, pasta and salads.
